Third accused arrested in Lengrijan POCSO case as SIT probe continues into alleged sexual assault of minor

DIMAPUR — The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case registered at Dimapur Women Police Station has arrested a third alleged accused.
The arrest was confirmed to Eastern Mirror by the officials of Dimapur Eastern Nagaland Students' Union on Sunday.
The identity of the third alleged accused has been withheld as the person is currently under interrogation.
Dimapur Police had stated in a press release issued on June 3 that a Special Investigation Team headed by a senior officer had been constituted to investigate the POCSO case.

The case was registered following a First Information Report (FIR) lodged on May 25 by the guardians of a minor victim.
Earlier, two persons were arrested in connection with the case. They were identified by the police as O Watimeren Jamir (43), a resident of Lengrijan village, Dimapur, and Tsuktimongba Ao (37), a resident of Razaphe Industrial village, Dimapur.
According to the information released by the police, the minor had reportedly been staying at the residence of one of the accused, Watimeren Jamir, for educational purposes for nearly two years.
