DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) has strongly condemned the alleged attempted rape of one of its members by one Hegukha Chophi on September 24.

In a press statement, the association appealed to the concerned authorities to ensure safety and protection, provide legal support, and deliver justice, stating that such inhuman acts have no place in society.

The CMA emphasised collective responsibility to uphold the rights and dignity of every individual.

The Tizu Area Public Welfare Organisation (TAPWO) and the Tizu Area Baptist Church Council (TABCC) have also condemned the alleged attempted rape and assault by Chophi, reportedly a member of the NSCN (IM).

“We unequivocally condemn this heinous act of sexual assault. There is absolutely no place for such violence and deplorable behaviour in our community and society. We are outraged and horrified by this incident—such acts are abhorrent, unacceptable, and deserve the strongest condemnation. Our hearts go out to the survivor, and we stand in absolute solidarity with her during this difficult time,” the organisations said.

The organisations further called upon all right-thinking citizens to join in condemning the crime and urged the competent authorities to arrest the perpetrator and ensure that justice is delivered to the victim at the earliest.
