DIMAPUR — The Phek Area Mother's Association (PAMA) and the Kizari Village Council (KVC) have condemned the recent alleged rape attempt and criminal intimidation, involving death threats, by Hegukha Chophi, reportedly a member of the NSCN (IM), against a woman who serves as a prayer house keeper in Kizari village.
In a press statement, the PAMA stated that such a heinous act is not only a gross violation of human rights and dignity but also an alarming threat to the safety and security of the community, particularly women and vulnerable individuals.
“Acts of violence and intimidation have no place in a civilized society, and we stand firmly united in demanding that justice be delivered swiftly and impartially. We call upon the law enforcement authorities to take immediate and decisive action against the culprit, ensuring that they are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” the association stated.
It also urged the concerned authorities to provide protection, legal support, and counselling to the victim and to ensure her safety and well-being.

“We also appeal to the public to stand together in solidarity against gender-based violence and to support initiatives that promote respect, equality, and justice for all,” the statement read.
“Let this serve as a clear message: any form of sexual violence, threat, or coercion will not be tolerated. Our collective voice must continue to uphold the rights and dignity of every human being.”
Ina separate press release, the Kizari Village Council stated that such reprehensible and unlawful acts represent a grave violation of human dignity and are a direct affront to the fundamental values of respect, equality and justice that our society upholds.
“We reaffirm our firm stance that any form of sexual harassment, molestation, or violence against women or girls is intolerable and must be met with the strictest legal action. The individual responsible for such despicable behaviour must be held fully accountable under the law, and justice must be ensured without delay,” the council stated.
“We extend our deepest sympathy and support to the victim and her family during this difficult time. It is our collective responsibility to create a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for all, free from fear, exploitation, and abuse.”
The KVC further affirmed that it remains committed to promoting awareness, upholding ethical conduct, and cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
