MP S Phangnon Konyak extends Naknyulüm greetings
DIMAPUR — S Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), extended warm greetings to the Chang community on the occasion of the Naknyulüm festival. In a press statement, she wished that the festival would continue to promote peace, unity, and the triumph of light over darkness. She also prayed for God’s blessings and the well-being of all celebrating the festival.
WSYF lauds WSH for action on identity misrepresentation
DIMAPUR — The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has commended the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) for its prompt action in addressing an alleged case of identity misrepresentation involving one Shiva Narayan Choudhury, who had been identifying as S Tovishe Yepthomi. According to an update from the front, following WSH’s intervention, Choudhury has reverted to his original name. The youth body urged others who may have assumed unauthorised identities to follow suit.
Police recovers one body
DIMAPUR — Personnel of Sub-Urban Police Station, Dimapur, recovered one body identified as Marujal, aged around 35-40 years, from Rail Bazaar on July 29. A police report stated that an inquest was conducted over the dead body, but no foul play could be ascertained.
Sentiyanger Imchen appointed next Nagaland Chief Secretary
On close observation and as per the witness's report, the deceased was a homeless person and was suspected to have died of starvation. It stated that the body was shifted to Dimapur District Hospital’s morgue for post-mortem examination after completion of all legal formalities. Tsüngremmong to be celebrated in Kisama
DIMAPUR — The Ao Naga community will celebrate the Tsüngremmong festival on August 1 at the Amphitheatre, Kisama. Former Nagaland Chief Minister and Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. SC Jamir will attend the event as chief guest. According to an update, the event will feature a special performance by Dreams Unlimited, traditional dances, folk songs, and cultural showcases. As a pre-harvest festival, Tsüngremmong marks the end of the sowing season and is a time for thanksgiving and community bonding.
ADC Pfutsero calls I-Day prep meeting
DIMAPUR — Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pfutsero, Mhalo Humtsoe, has informed that there will be a coordination meeting of all heads of departments under the Pfutsero sub-division regarding the preparation for the upcoming Independence Day at 11:30 am on August 1 at the conference hall of the ADC, Pfutsero.
