DDCF slams Police recruitment process
DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District Citizens' Forum (DDCF) has expressed shock over the exclusion of recognised indigenous inhabitants/tribes of Nagaland, including the Garo, Kachari, Kuki, and Mikirs, from the recent constable recruitment drive for the Nagaland police. In a press release, the forum stated that such discrimination to these recognised indigenous tribes was never seen before. “Therefore, the DDCF would like to appeal the concerned authority to amend/rectify the advertisement order and include all the bonafide recognised indigenous tribes in the recruitment,” the forum stated.
CGA to inspect road projects
DIMAPUR — Chairman of the Committee on Government Assurances (CGA), P Longon, MLA, has fixed a visit for an on-the-spot verification to assess the status of road construction from ‘Kejumetuoma-Ghathashi Phase-I, Kejumetouma to Kheloshe Polytechnic, Atoizu- Phase II- completion of these roads’ and ‘Status of the two-lane road from Kohima to Jessami,’ on October 16 and the 17th . All members of the committee have been requested to make it convenient to join the visit, a DIPR report stated.

NHHDC handloom expo in Mokokchung
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (NHHDC) will organise a state handloom expo (Hathkargha Mela) at Town Hall in Mokokchung from October 16 to the 29th. It informed that the last date for submission of application has been set on October 10. Interested co-operative societies, producer companies, SHGs, federations, apex societies, handloom and handicrafts agencies including silk weavers, jute artisans and KVIC are asked to apply for participation at the Project Cell of NHHDC Ltd, Half Nagarjan, Dimapur, along with detailed address, mobile number, bank account No. with IFSC code of the participants along with one photograph of products to be displayed in the stall.
78 CRPF organises blood donation camp
DIMAPUR — Commemorating National Voluntary Blood Donor Day, the 78 Battalion CRPF, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, organised a blood donation camp on the theme “Give blood, give hope: Together we save lives.” An update from CRPF stated that more than 20 officers and jawans of 78 battalion CRPF donated blood, reaffirming their dedication not only to safeguarding the nation but also to serving humanity and also took a pledge to donate blood regularly whenever someone is in need of blood. It stated that the camp highlighted the selfless spirit of CRPF personnel and their commitment to saving precious lives beyond the call of duty.
KBC Ahthibung hosts children Bible camp
DIMAPUR — The Kuki Baptist Church (KBC), Ahthibung, organised a children Bible camp (CBC) from September 28 to October 1 with Isaac Singson as the main speaker and Thangtinsei and Mary Vaiphei as counsellors. An update from KBC Ahthibung stated that a total of 269 children participated in the three-day camp. The camp director, Kammang, expressed gratitude to the church leaders including board of deacon, youth leaders and women leaders, and the resource persons for their steadfast support and selfless service.
USSC hosts joint coordination meeting
DIMAPUR — The United Sangtam Students' Conference (USSC) hosted a joint coordination meeting with the Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students' Union (ENSSU) and Seyochung Area Students' Union (SASU) at its office in Kiphire headquarters on September 30. During the meeting, it was collectively affirmed that USSC and ENSSU would uphold and promote the principles of brotherhood, mutual respect and non-violence in all activities. It also resolved to hold interactions through an open dialogue and consultations in order to maintain peace and order in the larger interest of the community.
