DIMAPUR — The Association of Indigenous Minority Tribes of Nagaland (AIMTN) has expressed concern over the exclusion of Garo, Kuki, Kachari, and Mikir tribes in the recent district-wise allotment of constable posts in Nagaland Police department.
In a statement, the association asserted that these four tribes are constitutionally recognised as Scheduled Tribes in Nagaland.
Furthermore, it stated that the state Home department’s on July 6, 1973, specifies reservation provisions for these tribes, including 100% for non-technical Grade III & IV posts and 80% for other direct recruitment posts, provided the candidates are indigenous inhabitants of the state.

However, it alleged that the police recruitment notification dated September 30, 2025 omitted these tribes, violating existing constitutional and state government provisions.
The AIMTN appealed to the authorities to review the order and ensure fair allotment of constable posts to members of the Garo, Kuki, Kachari, and Mikir tribes in the Dimapur, Peren, and Chümoukedima districts.
