Nagaland state joins nationwide launch of Prime Minister's Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses.

DIMAPUR — The launch of Prime Minister's Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses was held simultaneously across different districts in Nagaland on October 11.
The PMDDKY focuses on 100 low-performing agricultural districts across the country, ensuring the convergence of 36 existing schemes under 11 ministries—including PM-KISAN and PMFBY (crop insurance)—through district-level planning to enhance productivity, diversify crops, improve storage, and promote sustainable practices.
Dimapur: The launching programme was held at the DC's conference hall with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tinojongshi Chang as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC remarked that a large part of Nagaland’s economy depends on agricultural projects.
Stating that the implementation of this five-year programme has begun in Mon district, Dr. Chang hoped that it will soon be extended to other districts as well.
He further noted that despite Dimapur being largely urban with limited agricultural activities, it shouldn’t lose focus on agriculture. Instead, he emphasised the need to strengthen agricultural initiatives.

He also encouraged attendees to spread awareness about the newly launched schemes, ensuring their benefits reach a wider population.
The keynote address was delivered by Rokovotsolie Peseyie, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), who explained that the PMDDKY aims to revolutionise Indian agriculture by making it more productive, sustainable, and financially rewarding.
A live webcast of the Prime Minister launching the PMDDKY and pulse mission was streamed during the event.
Chümoukedima: Two-way live webcasting of the launching of PMDDKY and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses was held at the DC’s office, Chümoukedima.
District Agriculture Officer Moianla Pongen highlighted the launch programme, stating that the scheme aims to enhance agricultural productivity, modernise farming practices, and promote self-reliance through advanced technologies. The scheme will be implemented in coordination with existing agricultural initiatives.
Resource person Meciesunu Sakhrie, Agriculture Officer, delivered a presentation on the topic ‘Improved package & practices of major rabi crops’, while topic on ‘Principles and practices of natural farming,’ was presented by Avizo Virie, DPD, ATMA.
This was followed by distribution of seeds/inputs by Deputy Commissioner Polan John.
Kohima: The District Agriculture Office, Kohima, in collaboration with the district administration, observed the nationwide launch of the PMDDKY and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses at the DC’s conference hall, with Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir as the special guest.
In his address, the MP highlighted the objectives of the scheme and the mission, emphasising their potential to uplift and empower farmers, a DIPR report stated. Jamir also urged the agriculture and allied departments in Kohima district, with the Agriculture department as the nodal agency, to replicate successful models and work towards the holistic development of farmers at the grassroots level. The special guest also distributed seeds to farmers present at the event.
Viketuno Chusi, SDAO, in her keynote address, explained that 100 low-performing agricultural districts across India have been identified for implementation of the PMDDKY scheme.
The programme concluded with a live streaming of the nationwide launch of the schemes.
Niuland: The launching programme, organised by the district administration along with Agri & allied sector, was held at the DC’s conference hall.
In her address, Deputy Commissioner Sara S Jamir stated that the launch of PM-DDKY aims to boost the agriculture and allied sector by enhancing agricultural productivity and improving farmers' infrastructure.
The DC also stated that once the project is launched, the district administration and all the concerned officers in the district will thoroughly deliberate on how to implement the various schemes, and urged the officers present to sensitise the schemes to the citizens of the district.
As Niuland district has the largest area and forest coverage under the Agri and allied sector in the state, it will immensely benefit the district's farmers, Jamir said.
Delivering the keynote address, District Agriculture Officer Thepusa Nakro highlighted the aims and objectives of the PM-DDKH.

Wokha: In Wokha, the programme was organised at the DC hall, where officials and stakeholders gathered to witness the live telecast.
Senior scientist at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Wokha, Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the objectives of the PMDDKY and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses.
Sub-Divisional Officer Echungbemo Erui addressed the gathering and underscored the importance of the newly launched schemes for farmers and rural communities.
He encouraged SHGs and progressive farmers to take full advantage of the schemes and the resources being made available. Erui called upon departments to work in coordination to ensure effective implementation and widespread awareness among rural farmers.
The event saw participation from officials of KVK Wokha, members of SHGs, and representatives from various departments.

Phek: The programme was held at DC’s Conference hall where ADC Phek, Thejakhrienuo Nisa, delivered the keynote address, while Ruovilhou Tseibu Rulho, District Agriculture Officer, spoke on Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses and its benefits to the farmers.
The live streaming of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's launching of PMDDKY was also telecast during the programme. EAC Phek, Imnasenla Walling, chaired the programme and Veniechi Vese, Agriculture Officer delivered vote of thanks.
Officials from the district administration and Agriculture department attended the event.
Mokokchung: KVK Mokokchung joined in celebrating the PMDDKY and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses launching at KVK Conference hall. Dr. Keviletsu Khate, senior scientist, inhis keynote address highlighted the modalities of the schemes and the various programme under the schemes, an update stated.
He highlighted that the consolidation of 36 schemes under the PMDDKY will make farming sustainable, boost production, and provide cold storage facilities in villages.
Short speeches were also delivered by officials from Agri and allied departments, highlighting the various schemes of their respective department. The program was chaired by Dr. Sarenedi Walling, ACTO (Animal Science).
Tseminyu: The programme, organised under supervision of Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch, was organised at DC’s conference hall. The program was attended by the Agri & allied departments and officials from various departments, who also witnessed the live telecast of the launching event.
