Wokha district joins the national launch of PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission to boost agriculture and self-reliance.

WOKHA — Wokha district joined the rest of the country in the launch of the Prime Minister Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and the Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission, which were virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday from the National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC), Pusa, New Delhi.
The launch also marked the inauguration and foundation stone laying of over 1,100 projects in the sectors of agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries and food processing, with a cumulative investment of over INR 42,000 crore.
In Wokha, the programme was held at the DC Hall, where officials, stakeholders, and members of self-help groups (SHGs) participated in the live telecast of the national event.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, senior scientist at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha, outlined the objectives of the PMDDKY and Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission.
He stated that the initiatives aim to enhance agricultural infrastructure, improve productivity, and promote sustainable, self-reliant farming practices. He also stressed the need for capacity building, local innovation, and scientific interventions to address challenges in the sector.
Speaking at the event, Echungbemo Erui, SDO (Civil), Wokha, encouraged farmers and SHG members to actively engage with the schemes and utilise the resources provided. He said the initiatives would not only boost pulse production but also create avenues for entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied sectors.
He urged departments to collaborate for effective implementation and to raise awareness among rural farmers.
The programme was attended by officials from KVK Wokha, representatives from various departments, and members of SHGs.
