PM Modi lays foundation for aqua park in Mokokchung

DIMAPUR — Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for establishment of an Integrated Aqua Park at Tzudikong, Mokokchung district, under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), on Saturday through a virtual video conference.

The virtual ceremony was attended by Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh and A Pangjung Jamir, Advisor of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources department, Government of Nagaland, a DIPR report stated.

The Director of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Rongsennungba, and department officials also participated in the programme.

“This is the first aqua park in Nagaland that will serve as a centre for showcasing of fisheries related developmental activities. Its primary focus will be on fish and fish seed production and is poised to be a transformative force in Nagaland's fisheries sector.

“It will offer a comprehensive resource centre for high quality inputs and will facilitate forward market integrations to ensure equitable pricing for fishery products. It will meet the needs of the fish farmers, where they can avail all the benefits within Nagaland and will empower the educated unemployed youths towards development of fisheries sector,” the report stated.
