KHUTSAMI — Advisor of CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Tuesday said that the state government is committed to working towards creating better sports infrastructure and improved sports ecosystem.
The advisor was addressing the golden jubilee celebration of Khutsami Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) held at local ground, Khutsami village, Phek district, as the special guest.
Khamo said sports is becoming increasingly popular and that raising good sportspersons requires collective efforts from the village, church, family and society.
Towards this, he said that the Nagaland government is investing a lot in sports infrastructure and sportspersons to push athletes to the national and international levels.
Noting that winning does not only bring medals but also fame, riches and employment, he exhorted athletes to be serious in their pursuit.
Pointing out Olympians from the state—footballer Dr. T Ao, archer Chekrovolu Swuro and paralympian Hokatto Hotozhe Sema—who have competed in the Olympics, he said they are an inspiration to many, and urged the youth to take up sports as it is one of the highest-earning professions.

He advised athletes to remain determined and committed through willpower and to pursue their goals with sincerity, emphasising the importance of skill development through training and coaching, speed and strength, alongside perseverance.
Acknowledging infrastructure and developmental gaps in the Chozuba assembly constituency, he assured that he is committed to the all-round development of the constituency, which requires unity and cooperation from the public.
Reiterating that the village fair held at Phusachodu village had also launched the initiatives ‘One Family, One Project; One Family, One Entrepreneur; and One Family, Prayer Time’, he said the initiatives were introduced to encourage people to eat the fruits and not the seeds, so as to grow and prosper.
Additionally, he asserted that unity is the need of the hour in Naga society, while lamenting factionalism among Naga Political Groups (NPGs) despite having one common agenda for a solution to the protracted issue, as well as divisions among churches and society, which he said is concerning.
He further affirmed that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s leadership in forming an opposition-less government and the recent merger of the majority NDPP legislators into the NPF party, have shown the way for unity and progress.
Guest of honour Nezosa Tetseo, president of Phek District Sports Association (PDSA), in his speech, said that a jubilee is a time to retrospect and introspect, while urging athletes to be more dedicated to sports and any vocation they choose to pursue their talents.
He exhorted players not to let infrastructure gaps become a setback, but to excel through dedication and passion, adding that the state government is paving the way for sports development and promotion.
On the occasion, Khamo unveiled the jubilee monolith, while Tetseo released the souvenir.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Thepukro Swuro, Village Council Chairman (VCC); presidential address by Kuyho Tetseo; greetings by Khokuto Sapuh, president of the Sukruzu Area Sports Association (SASA), and vote of thanks by Mukhayi Keyho, head GB.
