DIMAPUR — The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) and Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) have taken note of the “unfortunate incident” involving the assault of two minor students from Thilixu Village on May 30 in Chümoukedima district.
In a joint press communiqué, the two organisations described the incident as unfortunate and expressed deep concern over the matter.
The two youth bodies stated that such acts are regrettable and have no place in a society that values mutual respect, peace, and the protection of children.
The organisations clarified that the incident was the action of certain individuals and should not be viewed or interpreted along tribal lines.
They stressed that the actions of a few persons must not be allowed to undermine the long-standing cordial relationship, mutual respect, and cooperation shared between the two communities.

The CYO and WSYF noted that both organisations have worked together over the years on issues related to public welfare, youth development, and peaceful coexistence, and reaffirmed their commitment to preserving these bonds.
They also appealed to the public, particularly the youth, to exercise restraint and refrain from spreading rumours, misinformation, divisive narratives, or hateful comments that could create misunderstanding between communities.
The organisations urged that the matter be addressed through lawful means and in accordance with the findings of the competent authorities.
They further appealed to all concerned to extend full cooperation to the authorities during the course of the investigation.
Reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, justice, and social harmony, the CYO and WSYF stated that they would continue to work together in the interest of the youth and to foster an environment where every individual can live with dignity, security, and respect.
