Four Naga wrestlers head to Kyrgyzstan for World Nomad Games, where Naga Wrestling will feature as a demonstration sport
DIMAPUR — A four-member Naga wrestling team has left for Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 6th World Nomad Games, where Naga Wrestling will make its international debut as a demonstration sport.
The contingent, led by Nagaland Wrestling Association president Vivolie Kezo, departed on Wednesday for the Games, scheduled from August 29 to September 7 at Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
The team comprises male wrestlers Huluyi D Vadeo and Kuvenu Puro, and female wrestlers Vikehenuo Zumvü and Haizuyile Zeliang, along with officials, coaches and referees.
Naga Wrestling has been officially included as a demonstration sport at the Games. The Naga contingent will demonstrate the traditional wrestling style and also compete in belt wrestling in their respective weight categories, according to the association.
Naga Wrestling was featured as a medal event at the 12th AITWPF National Championship held in Goa in January 2026, which saw participation from 16 states.
