Kudecho Khamo urged the NPF Public Grievances Cell to strengthen party-public engagement.
DIMAPUR — Advisor for CAWD and legislator in-charge of the Naga People's Front (NPF) Public Grievances Cell, Kudecho Khamo, said the newly constituted cell has a significant responsibility to strengthen the party by engaging with the people and addressing their concerns.
Addressing a meeting of the NPF Public Grievances Cell at the party's central office in Kohima on July 17, Khamo expressed gratitude to Chief Minister and NPF president Neiphiu Rio for entrusting him with the responsibility of overseeing the cell, an update stated.
He appreciated Rio's vision behind the merger of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) with the NPF, saying the move had consolidated and strengthened the regional party to work for the welfare and interests of the people.
Describing the NPF as one of the country's oldest regional political parties, he said it has consistently remained the voice of the Nagas and championed their political aspirations.
He added that the party has served Nagas across Nagaland, Manipur and other Naga-inhabited areas, and said the political aspirations of the Nagas remain central to its ideology.
Stressing the need to preserve Naga identity, traditions and faith, Khamo expressed concern over growing materialism, saying greed had weakened Naga unity and contributed to divisions among the people.

He observed that many were placing money above their culture, identity and collective political aspirations, and blamed greed for the proliferation of various Naga political groups.
Despite these challenges, he asserted that the NPF would continue to uphold and safeguard the aspirations of the Naga people.
Calling for unity beyond tribal differences and economic interests, he urged party members to strengthen the regional party, saying a strong NPF would also strengthen the Naga voice and protect the identity of the people.
Referring to the Public Grievances Cell, Khamo said it had been entrusted by the party president with an important responsibility.
While acknowledging that it may not be possible to resolve every grievance brought forward by organisations, communities or individuals, he said the cell must make every effort to listen to people, understand their concerns and engage with them through dialogue.
The advisor said providing a platform for meaningful interaction would itself be an important step towards addressing public grievances and strengthening the relationship between the party and the people.
The programme was chaired by Public Grievances Cell convenor Z Neikuo Lhousa. Hito Aye delivered the welcome address, while Nezosa Tetseo proposed the vote of thanks.
During the meeting, members deliberated on the need for greater inclusivity, strengthening engagement in the interest of the party and public welfare, establishing an effective grievance redressal mechanism, and other organisational matters.
