Two NPP councillors join NPF, raising its strength to 15 in the 19-member Kohima Municipal Council on Friday

DIMAPUR — The Naga People's Front (NPF) further consolidated its dominance in the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) on Friday with two National People's Party (NPP) councillors joining the regional party—taking the NPF's strength to 15 of the 19 elected wards.
A press release issued by the party informed that Councillor Medoviu Martin Suohu of Ward No. 19 and Councillor Vizokhoto George Kirha of Ward No. 14 formally resigned from the NPP and joined the ruling NPF along with their supporters. The two leaders said they would work for the development and progress of Kohima.
Welcoming the new entrants, NPF Secretary General and MLA Achumbemo Kikon described the move as a major boost for the party and its position in the KMC. He urged the councillors to remain committed to the party and uphold its discipline, saying the NPF is a grassroots-driven regional party that has consistently advocated a peaceful resolution to the Naga political issue.
According to Kikon, the growing support for the NPF reflected the belief among Nagas that a strong regional political party is essential to safeguard the rights and identity of the people.
Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture Salhoutuonuo Kruse, who is also the legislator in charge of Kohima Division, welcomed the two councillors and termed their induction a significant gain for the party. She called on all KMC councillors to work together in unity for the welfare of citizens and the overall development of the state capital.
Advisor for School Education Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, Kohima Division President Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, and NPF Vice President (COB) Menuovilie Kesiezie also congratulated the new entrants, expressing confidence that their joining would further strengthen the party's organisational base in Kohima.
