Naga People's Front holds consultative meetings in Sechü–Zubza and Atoizu, stressing unity and leadership support

DIMAPUR — The Naga People's Front (NPF) of 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency (AC) and the NPF Zunheboto division held consultative meetings at Sechü–Zubza and Atoizu, respectively.
Sechü–Zubza: The consultative meeting attended by party functionaries at the AC level and above, was held at Sechü–Zubza Council Hall on March 25.
According to a press release, the meeting was hosted by Salhoutuono Kruse, Minister for Horticulture and Women Resource Development and in-charge of the NPF Kohima division.
Addressing the gathering, Kruse reflected on her early political journey alongside her late husband, K Kruse, and the challenges they faced during the initial years.
She expressed gratitude to party workers across political lines as well as well-wishers for their support.
Describing her election as a historic milestone, she noted that she is among the first women MLAs from the 8th Western Angami AC and the first woman minister of Nagaland.

She thanked party leaders for their trust and called on members to remain united, uphold mutual respect, and work collectively for the development of the constituency.
Emphasising unity, she urged party workers to strengthen the party under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio.
Goneiu Sirie, vice president (COB), highlighted the historical foundation of the regional party in 1963 under A Kevichüsa and his associates.
He described the NPF as one of the oldest regional parties in the country and stressed that party workers are the backbone of the organisation.
Sirie urged members to work with sincerity and dedication under Rio’s leadership while adhering to the party’s constitution and ideology.
Mhiesizokho Zinyü, member of the NPF Elders’ Forum (CEC), emphasised commitment, trust, mutual respect, and transparency within the party.
He encouraged members to remain united and disciplined, reiterating the importance of Rio’s leadership. Both Sirie and Zinyü also highlighted the forthcoming Census revision expected to begin in April, advising members to stay vigilant and informed.
Rokovisie Rino, secretary (COB), also spoke on the occasion.
The meeting, chaired by Mhiesilhoukho Yalie, AC president, concluded with the house unanimously resolving to uphold unity, mutual respect, and transparency at all levels.
It also reaffirmed support for Kruse’s leadership and committed to working under Neiphiu Rio for continued unity and progress.
Atoizu: The NPF Zunheboto division held a consultative meeting with party officials and stakeholders of 32 Atoizu AC on Thursday, reaffirming its support for MLA Picto Shohe.

The meeting, held at Jubilee Hall, was part of the central team-led Zunheboto division constituency tour.
Addressing the gathering, NPF Zunheboto division president Khehoshe H Yeptho lauded Shohe for his commitment to the development of Atoizu constituency.
He stated that the MLA has delivered more developmental work than many leaders holding ministerial portfolios.
Expressing confidence in the party’s future, Yeptho said that the NPF-led government would return to power in the 2028 general elections, with Neiphiu Rio continuing as chief minister.
Secretary of the Central Office Bearers (COB), Akuto Tuccu, highlighted various government schemes and developmental opportunities available to the public. He also encouraged citizens to register under MSME to avail its benefits.
NPF Zunheboto vice president Hotovi Chishi emphasised the historical and political significance of Atoizu constituency, noting that it has produced prominent leaders, including a former chief minister and a Speaker of the Nagaland Assembly who was honoured by the Government of India.
Other speakers included Khuketo Yeptho, who highlighted the importance and history of the NPF and stressed the need for unity under a regional political party, and Kuhoi Zhimomi, who expressed optimism about the future of the constituency.
Zhimomi also clarified that all 10 NLA Sumi members remain united despite rumours of disunity, adding that they had recently met to deliberate on the welfare and progress of the Sumi community.
Representatives from various wings of the 32 A/C also delivered short speeches.
The meeting concluded with a strong message of unity, commitment, and renewed determination among party leaders and members.
