Naga People’s Front stresses unity and grassroots strength during assembly constituency tours in Wokha and Zunheboto divisions.

WOKHA/DIMAPUR — The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Wokha division continued its second-day tour on Wednesday covering the 39 Sanis Assembly Constituency (AC), engaging with party workers and community members to strengthen grassroots outreach.
The division, as part of the NPF assembly constituency tour, had earlier covered 40 Bhandari AC. Separately, the Zunheboto Division conducted its third-day tour programme with a consultative meeting at 31 Akuluto AC on March 24 at VK Town.
At 39 Sanis AC, the programme was held at Community Hall, Sanis town. Rhonthungo Lotha, Treasurer of the NPF Wokha division, said the NPF is not only a political party but also a Naga peace movement and urged party workers to strengthen the party as one family.
Y Mhonimo Ngullie, Secretary of the Farmers’ Wing (central), highlighted that 70–80 per cent of Naga society depends on agriculture for livelihood and stressed extending assistance to farmers and disseminating information on government programmes.
Merithung Odyuo, General Secretary of the Youth Wing (central), encouraged the use of social media to share information on schemes and achievements of the NPF, while calling for coordination and unity.

Renboni Kikon, General Secretary of the Women’s Wing (central), stated that there is no “big or small” role in serving the party and urged sincere contribution.
Rhonthungo Ovung, General Secretary of COB, said the tour aimed to remind party workers of government programmes and address lapses, while Renbio Lotha, general secretary of COB, described the party merger as a major political achievement and highlighted the “Japan–Nagaland Connect” programme under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Y Renbomo Kikon, Vice President (COB), emphasised inclusiveness and respect for leaders, while Tsumongo Ovung, Senior Vice President (COB), urged members to support their leaders and uphold party principles.
Earlier, on March 24, the division toured 40 Bhandari AC, with a session held at Town Hall, Bhandari.
Addressing the gathering, Mhonthung Patton, COB member, speaking on the occasion, underscored the objective of the tour and stressed that the strength of the party lies in the participation of the people.
He explained the party’s four-tier structure—central, division, constituency, and village levels—and called for close coordination across all ranks for cohesive development.
Amos Odyuo, President of the Youth Wing (Wokha division), termed NPF a strong regional party following the merger and urged unity and enrolment. Achamo Kikon, Working President of the central Youth Wing, described NPF as a people’s party and called for grassroots support.
Grace Murry, Vice President of the Women’s Wing, urged members to remain humble, while Mhao Odyuo, Secretary (COB), cautioned against corruption and money politics.
Ekonlumi, Vice President of the central Women’s Wing, called for unity and appreciated the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. John Ezung, COB member, informed that this was the first tour after the merger and assured more grassroots activities.
The NPF central team held a consultative meeting for 31 Akuluto AC at the Town Hall in VK Town on March 24 as part of the third day of the Zunheboto division tour programme.
According to an update, the entourage included officials from the Zunheboto division, Zunheboto town councillors, and office bearers from the 35 Zünheboto AC and 36 Satakha AC.
Khehoshe H Yepthomi, President of the NPF and convenor of the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) for the Zunheboto district, lauded the elected representative of the 31 Akuluto AC, Kazheto Kinimi, Advisor for Animal Husbandry, during the meeting.
He further urged the office bearers of the NPF 31 Akuluto AC to cooperate with the elected representative and continue working for the welfare of the people of Akuluto, given their status as political allies.
Kuhoi Zhimomi, General Secretary (COB), stressed that once an individual has taken the NPF pledge, they must act as a responsible party leader. Kiheto Phuleshe, President of the Farmers' Wing, commended the 31 Akuluto AC office bearers for their patience.
