NPF leaders in Kohima, Wokha and Zunheboto meetings emphasise unity, discipline and strengthening party structure across constituencies.

DIMAPUR/WOKHA — The Naga People's Front (NPF) conducted various activities and programmes in Kohima, Wokha and Zunheboto districts on Tuesday.
Kohima: The NPF 9-Kohima Town Assembly Constituency held a consultative meeting at its divisional office, with former MLA Dr. Nicky Kire addressing party workers.
Kire emphasised the importance of regular interaction among members to foster unity, share ideas, and build a clear collective vision.
Menuovilie Kesiezie, COB vice president of Kohima division, encouraged residents to learn the Tenyidie language, stating that it helps bring people closer.
He also highlighted the formation of the NPF in 1963 under the Cock symbol, noting that its core objective was to address the Naga issue. While the party has evolved over time, he said the symbol remains a unifying force that has drawn many leaders into politics. Kesiezie urged members to work diligently and identify the best candidate for the upcoming elections.

Delivering the presidential address, 9-Kohima Town AC president Metekhrielie Mejura called on members to treat politics as an important institution and work together with integrity and unity.
Guonice Sirie, vice president COB and in-charge of Kohima division, spoke on good governance and the party’s role in it.
Theyiekelie Tachü stressed unity, discipline, and mutual respect, noting the significance of Kohima Town AC as the state capital constituency.
The programme was chaired by Neiba Bio, working president of Kohima Town AC.
Wokha: The NPF Wokha division conducted its first assembly constituency tour covering 37 Tuyi and 38 Wokha assembly constituencies at VDB Hall, Wokha.
The morning session for 37 Tuyi AC featured interactions between division workers, central leaders, and constituency members.
NPF Wokha women division president Yanchi K Khuvung highlighted the need for unity and urged members to stay motivated despite the absence of elected representatives. She also called for strengthening women’s wings across constituencies.
Central women’s wing vice president Ekonlumi stressed the importance of seniority, loyalty, and adherence to party protocol.
CEC member Chobhathung Odyuo recalled the party’s formation under Kevichusa, describing it as an “anointed party,” and appealed to leaders to show care for workers.
Senior vice president Tsumongo Ovung called for more activities to promote unity and progress, while vice president COB John Ezung said the unified NPF aims to strengthen the collective voice for expediting the Naga political solution.
Achamo Kikon and central youth wing general secretary Lawrence Ovung also addressed the gathering.
The afternoon session covered 38 Wokha AC. Division president Meribemo Kinghen described it as the district’s backbone and urged continued commitment. Central women’s wing vice president Grace Murry emphasised working for public welfare.
Janbemo Humtsoe called for unity, trust, and honesty among party workers, while Zuthungbeni Humtsoe highlighted the role of youth and digital platforms. Farmers’ Wing general secretary Elansao Kikon stressed farmer welfare.
The second tour will cover 39 Sanis and 40 Bhandari constituencies on March 25.
Zunheboto: The second day of the NPF Zunheboto division constituency tour programme began at Satakha with a reception accorded by the office bearers of 36 A/C Satakha.

The meeting was held at Gen. K Zuheto Swu Memorial Hall, Satakha.
Khehoshe Yepthomi, while addressing the gathering, called upon the Satakha Town Council to collaborate with NPF party officials of 36 A/C for the welfare and development of Satakha.
He encouraged everyone to remain committed to the progress of the town and strive for expansion and better development.
Kiheto Phuleshe, president of the farmers’ wing, while addressing the gathering, stated that the people of Satakha are privileged to have a dynamic leader in G Kaito Aye, Minister of PWD (R&B).
He called upon the people to refrain from instigating others to contest elections unnecessarily, stating that such actions only drain their resources.
Hutovi Awomi, secretary of NPF COB, in his address, emphasised that every political party should function within a proper structure. He noted that many party leaders often raise trivial issues and urged members to remain patient, persevere, and trust their elected representatives.
Kakishe Muru, general secretary of NPF Zunheboto division, encouraged the party officials present to be diligent, remain faithful to their representatives, and work sincerely for the welfare of the people of Satakha.
Kuhoi Zhimomi, speaking at the event, urged party officials to respect one another regardless of their positions.
