MOKOKCHUNG — The Mongsenyimti Senso Tamang Telongjem (MSTT) celebrated its golden jubilee on the theme ‘Nuji Tia Sangokjang’ (Proclaim liberty) at Watem in Sungkomen Ward, Mokokchung, on Thursday.
Advisor for Water Resources Tongpang Ozukum unveiled the jubilee souvenir during the event. In his address, Ozukum described the 50-year milestone as a divine sabbatical cycle bestowed by God upon His followers—a time of celebration where slaves were freed, land returned to its original owners, and debts remitted.
Highlighting MSTT's legacy, he noted the organisation's track record of fostering reconciliation among the people of Mongsenyimti village during challenging times. “This celebration represents a 50-year journey of sacrifice and blessings rooted in faith,” he said.

Drawing from the jubilee's biblical significance, Ozukum urged the congregation to prepare for the freedom God has in store by reigniting their faith through a chain of prayers focused on the future of the youth.
Theme speaker Dr. Menjiwapong, Associate Professor at Eastern Theological College, Jorhat, emphasised that true liberty can only be proclaimed through unity in faith.
He described jubilee as a time for redemption, to press the “reset button” to return to one's spiritual foundations and reflect on personal questions of one’s faith, rather than chasing philosophical, ideological, or propagandistic trends.
Dr. Menjiwapong also called upon the congregation to give gratitude to God's blessings while urging attendees to look beyond the privileged “creamy layer” to address the struggles of the marginalised. “It is time to uplift the weaker sections of our society,” he asserted.
The program concluded with a moment of silence to honour the late leaders of MSTT.
