DIMAPUR — A three-day academic and cultural exchange programme between Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung, and Sherubtse College, Royal University of Bhutan, commenced at Sherubtse College, Bhutan, on October 1.
According to an update, five faculty members from Fazl Ali College, led by Dr. Adangla Changkija, associate professor and head of the Department of Sociology, along with eighteen students, are participating in the programme.
The student-faculty exchange, themed ‘Strengthening bond beyond borders’, aims to foster cross-cultural learning, academic collaboration, and mutual understanding between the two institutions. The initiative seeks to enhance academic experiences and strengthen Bhutan-India educational relations while encouraging students to become active global citizens with a strong sense of regional identity.

On the first day, Sherubtse faculty presented an overview of Bhutan’s biodiversity and its efforts in maintaining carbon negativity. The presentations highlighted the country’s ecological richness and conservation strategies, underscoring Bhutan’s global reputation as a leader in sustainable development.
From Fazl Ali College, Dr. Temjennaro delivered a presentation on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the context of higher education in Nagaland. Dr. Adangla Changkija explored Nagaland’s cultural diversity and its traditional practices, past and present, while Dr. P Tiatemsu drew attention to the ethnobotanical practices of the Ao Naga community, showcasing indigenous knowledge systems connecting culture with sustainable living.
