DIMAPUR — The NSS unit of Modern College Piphema organised a three-day NSS special camp at Mezoma Village from April 9 to the 11th on the theme ‘Not me, but you.’
A total of 29 volunteers, along with two programme officers, actively participated in the camp, the college stated in an update.
The camp commenced on April 9 and the team, which departed from the college at noon, reached Mezoma Village by 1 pm.
Upon arrival, a briefing session was conducted by the programme officers outlining the code of conduct and objectives of the camp.
Following a short tea break and room allocation, volunteers took part in an evening village stroll, allowing them to familiarise themselves with the local environment.
The day concluded with a recreation session that fostered camaraderie among participants.
On the second day, volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive across key areas of the village, including morungs, the football ground, footpaths, and drainage systems.

To promote sustainable waste management, dustbins were installed at strategic locations.
The volunteers also visited elderly residents, offering essential items and assisting with household tasks.
The evening concluded with a briefing for the final day, followed by an interactive session where sixth-semester volunteers shared their past NSS experiences, inspiring others.
The final day featured a trekking expedition to Christ the Redeemer at Techakho, Mezoma.
Alongside enjoying the scenic landscape, volunteers conducted a cleanliness activity in the area, reinforcing their commitment to environmental responsibility.
“The NSS special camp concluded on a successful note, leaving participants with meaningful experiences, strengthened teamwork, and lasting memories.
“The initiative not only contributed to community welfare but also instilled a deeper sense of responsibility, cooperation, and dedication to social service, truly embodying the spirit of ‘Not me, but you,’” the update stated.
