Kulolau Lazami Küqhakulu hosts first career guidance programme for Lazami youth in Dimapur.

DIMAPUR — The Kulolau Lazami Küqhakulu (KLK), Dimapur organised its first-ever career guidance and counselling programme exclusively for Lazami youth at Hotel Saramati on Saturday.
Sponsored by Yevihe Swunetho of Chekiye Block-5, the programme brought together speakers including Viqheshe S Futhena, BDO, RD Department; Lutovi Phucho, Assistant Drugs Controller, Dimapur Zone; Himato Kappo, Territory Manager, HarperCollins Publishers Pvt. Ltd.; and entrepreneur Lovi Achumi, proprietor of Tsuipu Food Products.
Lutovi Phucho highlighted the scope of higher studies and various academic streams, stated a press release issued by KLK.
Viqheshe S Futhena emphasised the importance of consistency and discipline in achieving success. He shared practical tips for competitive exam preparation, discussed the challenges faced by aspirants, and underscored the role of sacrifice and perseverance.

Drawing from his own experiences, he encouraged the youth to remain consistent, work hard, and never give up despite challenges.
He also stressed that being God-fearing and rooted in prayer plays a vital role in one’s journey toward success.
Kitoho Michael Swu, SDAO Pughoboto and advisor to KLK, spoke on socio-economic changes and called upon the youth to actively engage in farming. He emphasised that agriculture has evolved into a viable business opportunity and a technology-driven profession, offering a pathway to self-employment and independence while strengthening the local economy.
Highlighting the high demand for food in Nagaland and the existing deficit, he stressed the importance of farming for ensuring food security.
He further encouraged youth to explore organic farming, highlighting its benefits such as improved soil health, environmentally friendly practices, and better market value.
Swu also emphasised value addition and online marketing, noting that farming today is not merely cultivation but a sustainable and profitable enterprise that connects identity, culture, and livelihood.
Additionally, the SDAO highlighted the importance of Integrated Farming Systems (IFS), which promote sustainable agriculture through the integration of crops, livestock, and allied activities.
He explained that IFS maximises resource efficiency, minimises waste, and enables diversification and environmental sustainability.
He also pointed out that homestead and farmstead farming can serve as pathways toward self-sufficiency, encouraging youth to adopt integrated and sustainable farming as both a livelihood and a way of life.
Himato Kappo elaborated on emerging opportunities in the corporate sector. He highlighted its role in economic growth through both private and public enterprises, while also contributing to personal growth, employment generation, innovation, research, and overall social development.
Entrepreneur Lovi Achumi delivered a session on entrepreneurship and self-reliance, encouraging youth to explore business ventures and become job creators.
With around 50 participants, the programme was marked by active engagement and meaningful interactions throughout the sessions.
“KLK Dimapur remains steadfast in its commitment to empower, equip, and inspire the next generation of Lazami youth to become confident, capable, and visionary contributors to society and the nation,” the release stated.
