Phek Police arrest man accused of sexually assaulting a minor boy; victim stable, accused remanded to judicial custody
DIMAPUR — Phek Police on Wednesday arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor boy, hours after receiving a written complaint, and registered a case under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to a press release issued by Phek Police, a First Information Report (FIR) was received on July 1 alleging that a minor boy had been sexually assaulted.
Based on the complaint, Phek Women Police Station a registered case and formed a special investigation team, leading to the arrest of the accused on the same day.
Following completion of the required legal formalities, the accused was remanded to judicial custody.
Police informed that the child is in stable condition and is receiving appropriate care and protection.

It appealed to the public to respect the victim's privacy and refrain from sharing any information that could reveal the child's identity, stating that doing so is punishable under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
The police also assured that all efforts are being made to complete the investigation expeditiously and reiterated its appeal to the public to help create a safe and protective environment for children.
