Phek Special Court sentences man to 10 years under POCSO Act for repeatedly sexually assaulting minor girl in 2017 case.

KOHIMA — The Special Court in Phek district has sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment after he was found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor in 2017.
The accused, identified as Rukuto Medeo, was awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under the POCSO Act along with a fine on April 28, 2026.

Phek Police informed on Saturday that a written complaint was received on January 14, 2017, alleging multiple instances of sexual assault of a minor girl by the accused.
In this connection, a case was registered at Pfutsero Women Police Station under Sections 376(2)(i) and 376(2)(l) of the IPC, along with Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act, and was taken up for investigation.
The accused was later convicted by the Special Court.
