Meluri DPDB reviews sanitation and waste management, plastic segregation, school outreach by government departments and stronger inter-departmental coordination for district development.
DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB), Meluri, was held at the DB’s Court, DC’s Office, Meluri, on Tuesday, with Deputy Commissioner, Meluri, Phuleshe K Yepthomi, in the chair.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting reviewed the minutes of the previous DPDB meeting and discussed various developmental and administrative matters concerning the district.
Sanitation and waste management, particularly the proper segregation and disposal of single-use plastics and plastic bottles, was one of the major agenda items.
The deputy commissioner highlighted the importance of adhering to the new government guidelines on sanitation management under the four categories.
Yepthomi stressed the need for proper segregation and disposal of single-use plastics and called upon all departments to coordinate and work collectively to maintain cleanliness and ensure effective waste management across the district.

The meeting also discussed a proposal for different government departments to visit government higher secondary schools in Meluri district.
Under the proposed initiative, one department would visit the schools each month to interact with students and share information about its activities, programmes and public services.
The initiative is aimed at creating greater awareness among students about the functions and roles of various government departments and their contribution to public service.
The deputy commissioner called upon all departments to strengthen inter-departmental coordination and work collectively for the overall welfare and development of Meluri district.
He emphasised that active participation and coordinated efforts among departments are essential for achieving sustainable development and ensuring effective delivery of government programmes.
During the meeting, SDO, PWD (R&B), Khontsa Perry, delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the activities and achievements of the PWD (R&B) department.
