Longsa village will celebrate the four-day Tsüngremmung Festival 2026 from July 31 to August 3, showcasing Ao Naga traditions, cultural performances, indigenous games, and ceremonial rituals.
DIMAPUR — Longsa Village in Mokokchung, is set to celebrate the four-day Tsüngremmung Festival 2026 from July 31 to August 3, with the festivities organised by the Longsa Village Council (LVC) under the patronage of the Department of Tourism.
One of the most significant pre-harvest festivals of the Ao Nagas, Tsüngremmung showcases the community's rich cultural heritage, indigenous traditions and renowned hospitality while offering visitors an immersive cultural experience.
According to an update, the festival will commence on July 31 with a cultural competition at the Community Hall. Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsübo Jamir, will attend the inaugural programme as the guest of honour.
The main celebration will be held on August 1 at Salang Lenden and will feature the traditional ceremonial pulling of the vine (Arr Atsütsü), one of the festival's most symbolic rituals.
Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, S Keoshu Yimkhiung, will attend the event as the honoured guest, while Advisor for Land Resources, G. Ikuto Zhimomi, will be the guest of honour. Metsübo Jamir will serve as the chief host.

The programme will include cultural performances by the Sangphur Village Cultural Troupe of the Yimkhiung tribe and the Surumi Village Cultural Troupe of the Sumi tribe.
Other highlights include the traditional An Tepong Rara, indigenous games, a ceremonial tug-of-war, and performances by winners of the cultural competition.
The festival will observe The Lord's Day on August 2, with no cultural events scheduled.
The Longsa Village Council has extended an open invitation to citizens, tourists, well-wishers, the village's in-laws, and culture enthusiasts from across the country to participate in the festival.
