KVK Dimapur organised a frontline demonstration on the RC Maniphou-15 paddy variety for farmers in Nikhekhu village.

DIMAPUR — ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, under the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, conducted a frontline demonstration (FLD) on the promotion of the improved paddy variety RC Maniphou-15 at Nikhekhu village on Tuesday.
According to an update, the programme was attended by 24 farmers.
Dr. Phool Kumari, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Dimapur, briefed the participants on the various activities and services provided by KVK Dimapur for the benefit of the farming community.
She also created awareness about the ongoing "Khet Bachao Abhiyan" campaign, stressing the importance of sustainable agricultural practices, soil health management, and efficient use of farm resources to ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.
During the programme, Dr. Bendangla Imsong, Chief Technical Officer (Plant Breeding) of KVK Dimapur, delivered a lecture on the scientific techniques of lowland paddy cultivation. She highlighted the importance of adopting improved cultivation practices, including proper nursery management, timely transplanting, balanced nutrient management, weed control, and integrated pest management for achieving higher productivity and profitability in paddy cultivation.

She also highlighted the advantages of the improved rice variety RC Maniphou-15 for enhancing farmers’ income.
E Lireni Kikon, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Plant Protection) of KVK Dimapur, delivered an informative session on the ongoing balanced use of fertilisers campaign. She explained the significance of soil testing, and farmers were encouraged to adopt integrated nutrient management practices for sustainable crop production.
It was mentioned that the farmers participated in the discussions, expressed keen interest in adopting the recommended practices, and 400 kg of the paddy variety RC Maniphou-15 was distributed to the farmers.
The event concluded with an interactive session where farmers’ queries related to paddy cultivation were addressed by the KVK personnel.
