Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dimapur trains farmers on pineapple processing to boost skills and income.

DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (ICAR-KVK), Dimapur, in collaboration with the Green Hills Research and Development, Chümoukedima, conducted a one-day training on value addition of pineapple at KVK Dimapur on July 15.
An update from KVK Dimapur stated that the training programme was coordinated by Dr. Chingakham Sima Chanu, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science) at KVK Dimapur. It stated that the preparation of pineapple RTS beverage, pineapple squash and pineapple jam was imparted to the trainees.
At the valedictory programme, Dr. Phool Kumari, senior scientist and head of KVK Dimapur, encouraged the farmers to enhance their skills in pineapple processing in order to prevent wastage during the peak season and to enhance their income.
Masabenba, founder and chairman of Green Hills Research and Development, encouraged the farmers to move forward with the knowledge acquired during the training by opening outlets in food processing. He emphasised the necessity to conduct such training from time to time to enhance the skills and knowledge of the farmers in the field of food processing.

Dr. Bendangla Imsong, SMS (Plant Breeding) at KVK Dimapur, also encouraged the farmers to take advantage of such opportunities in order to improve their skills in food processing and to enhance their income.
Altogether, 30 farmers participated in the training programme.
