DIMAPUR — The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Chümoukedima, inaugurated its STAR (Student Training and Academic Readiness) Induction and Orientation Programme 2025 for the new Master of Social Work (MSW) batch on Wednesday at the NEISSR BAM Hall.
According to an update, the event was attended by Dr. Fr. George Rino, parish priest of St. Joseph Church and principal of St Joseph Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, as the special guest.
In the address, it was highlighted that education is about shaping souls and living what is learnt, underscoring that success comes not merely through dreams but through committed action. Students were urged to become seekers of justice and agents of societal transformation, rather than passive job seekers, especially in the face of increasing youth unemployment in Nagaland.
In the welcome address, Rev. Fr. GL Khing, vice principal and administrator of NEISSR, emphasised the institute’s friendly and familial atmosphere, encouraging open communication and collaboration between students, faculty, and management. "When individuals grow, society grows," he stated.
