KOHIMA — Two weeks after a burglary at the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) office, the Kohima police continue to investigate the case, though no major breakthroughs have been made so far.
An official source told Eastern Mirror that the investigation remains active and that all individuals connected to the case, including staff, are being questioned. “Everyone is a suspect, and everyone is innocent,” the source said, adding that no one has been taken into custody yet.

One of the challenges facing investigators is the absence of CCTV footage at the office. Despite this, authorities said they are committed to pursuing all leads and “will not leave any stone unturned”.
While preliminary reports had suggested that approximately INR 1 crore may have been stolen, the police have not confirmed this figure. An official source stated that determining the exact amount of money missing is part of the ongoing investigation and further details cannot be disclosed at this stage.
The break-in at the KMC office was discovered on the morning of June 3 by sanitation staff, who found the premises ransacked. The burglary is believed to have taken place during the night of June 2 or in the early hours of June 3.
Police assured that, although the investigation may take time, they are confident of making arrests once they have concrete evidence.
