Kohima Municipal Council files FIR, forms committee after burglary

  • DIMAPUR — The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) expressed deep anguish and condemned the burglary that took place within its office premises on the intervening night of June 2 and 3.

  • The KMC, in a statement, said it stands firmly against this brazen act of lawlessness and is fully committed to ensuring those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.

  • In immediate response to the incident, the KMC has formally lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with the appropriate authorities and noted that it is extending its full and unreserved cooperation to the investigating agency, providing all necessary assistance to aid their efforts.

  • The municipality has also constituted an Internal Assessment Committee to conduct a thorough review of all internal office procedures, identify any potential structural lapses or vulnerabilities that may have contributed to the incident, and implement measures to strengthen security protocols across the board.

  • It has assured the public that transparency, accountability, and security remain its paramount priorities and added criminal activities will not be allowed to undermine the dignity and effective functioning of the institution.

  • The KMC also appealed to any members of the public who may possess relevant information pertaining to this incident to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.
