KOHIMA — A case of burglary was reported at the
Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) office on Tuesday morning, with preliminary
reports suggesting that an estimated sum of around INR 1 crore may have been
stolen by unidentified miscreants.
According to a source from the KMC, the incident was
discovered early Tuesday when sweepers arrived and found the office ransacked.
The source said the break-in is suspected to have occurred during the previous
night. However, the exact amount stolen from the office safe could not be
confirmed at the time of reporting.
Official sources confirmed that a First Information Report
(FIR) has been filed and an investigation is currently underway. Forensic
experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have been engaged to analyse
the crime scene.
A police officer at the site confirmed that the
investigation is ongoing, and further details could not be disclosed at the
time of filing this report.
