Kohima District Legal Services Authority conducts legal awareness on child-friendly services and mental health support schemes in Tseminyu.

DIMAPUR — The Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) conducted an awareness programme on NALSA (Mano Nyay) 2024 and the NALSA (Child Friendly Legal Services for Children) Scheme 2024 at Government Higher Secondary School, Tseminyu, on August 18.
According to an update, the programme was held in line with the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) common action plan and was attended by approximately 150 students and teachers, along with three panel lawyers and one paralegal volunteer (PLV).
Speaking at the event, KDLSA Panel Lawyer Berta Tep highlighted the NALSA Child Friendly Scheme, 2024. She spoke on the POCSO Act, the Juvenile Justice Act, child marriage, cyber laws, the right to education, child helpline services, and the reporting mechanism, highlighting the child-friendly legal protections and support systems available for children.

KDLSA Panel Lawyer Kusalu Lohe spoke on NALSA (Mano Nyay) 2024, which aims to provide legal services to persons with mental illness and intellectual disabilities. She highlighted their rights and the services available under the LSUM unit for individuals requiring legal assistance and support.
The programme concluded with closing remarks by PLV A Helokali Aye, following an interactive session where participants' queries were clarified.
