DIMAPUR — The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on IAS Induction—comprising CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA, and NF&ASA—has decided to extend the ongoing pen-down strike beyond October 17, until further notice.
In a circular issued on Thursday, the committee stated that the decision was taken after reviewing the ongoing three-day agitation and considering the prevailing circumstances surrounding the protest against the alleged subversion of meritocracy in the non-SCS IAS induction process.
The JCC further announced that, following a request from the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) and keeping in view the welfare of students, teachers and educational institutions have been exempted from the purview of the strike.

The committee appreciated the teachers’ solidarity and continued support “in spirit” towards the cause of upholding meritocracy.
Expressing gratitude to various associations, organisations, and individuals who have extended support, both publicly and discreetly, the JCC termed the agitation as a “noble cause” to defend fairness and transparency in governance.
While acknowledging the inconvenience caused to the public, the committee appealed for understanding and patience, stating that the movement seeks to ensure that future generations inherit a system based on fairness and merit.
The circular further informed that all other modalities of the pen-down strike as issued earlier would remain in force until further directives are given.
