KOHIMA — On the second day of their pen-down strike, members of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) met with the chief secretary and top bureaucrats at the Secretariat in Kohima, and described the interaction as “fruitful.”
The pen-down strike, which began on October 14, is the third phase of the JCC’s agitation, involving government service associations including CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA, and NF&ASA.
The protest is aimed at pressing the state government to address their concerns over IAS induction.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Dr. Illang, core committee member and spokesperson of the JCC, said that the strike will continue as scheduled until the government responds to their core issues.

During the meeting, the JCC members were briefed on procedural details, including vacancy circulars, Cabinet decisions, and other administrative paperwork. The committee also presented their demands and key issues to the government, he said.
While expressing hope for a positive response, Dr. Illang said that the JCC acknowledged the government’s seriousness in taking up the matter but would await a clear decision before calling off the strike.
He added that the committee plans to meet on Thursday to decide the next course of action if their demands are not met.
