IMPCC Nagaland discussed coordinated media outreach and awareness measures for the successful conduct of Census 2027.

DIMAPUR — The first meeting of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC), Nagaland, for 2026 was held at Akashvani Kohima on Tuesday.
Constituted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, the IMPCC brings together central and state government departments and media units to strengthen public communication, coordinate media outreach, and address misinformation, according to a press release issued by PIB Kohima.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Doordarshan, Akashvani, the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Nagaland, and the Directorate of Census Operations, Nagaland.
Addressing the gathering, Director of Census Operations, Nagaland, Dr. K Miachieo briefed members on preparations and awareness initiatives for Census 2027.
He informed that the first phase of the exercise, the House Listing Operation, will be conducted across Nagaland from July 1 to the 30th. This will be preceded by a self-enumeration facility through the official Census portal from June 16 to the 30th.

Dr. Miachieo said that over 6,100 enumerators and supervisors have been deployed for the exercise. He also outlined an extensive media outreach plan involving print, radio, television, and digital platforms, including awareness programmes in 15 local dialects, Nagamese, and English.
Emphasising the importance of accurate census data for development planning, he appealed to citizens to cooperate with census officials and provide correct information.
Chairing the meeting, P Sophie, Head of Office, PIB Kohima, underscored the need for a coordinated, theme-based media strategy that leverages modern communication tools to maximise public awareness.
He also urged stakeholders to work closely with PIB in countering misinformation related to government programmes and initiatives.
The meeting deliberated on various outreach and publicity measures aimed at ensuring effective dissemination of information and the successful conduct of Census 2027 in Nagaland.
