Flash flooding at Thimlak Fishery Farm in Tuensang damages paddy fields, fisheries and homes following persistent monsoon rainfall

TUENSANG — Persistent rainfall triggered flash flooding at Thimlak Fishery Farm in Tuensang district at around 11 am on Sunday, causing extensive damage to paddy fields, fisheries and residential structures.
Thimlak, a medium-sized village under Tuensang Sadar Circle, is located about 18 km from Tuensang town along the Tuensang–Mon road.
According to sources, the flood destroyed around 25 paddy fields and fish ponds, besides damaging several huts and concrete houses.
The villagers were engaged in efforts to prevent further damage at the time of filing this report. The full extent of the losses is yet to be assessed, and further details are awaited.
