KOHIMA — The Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kigwema was declared a "litter-free campus" on Tuesday in the presence of Kelhikha Kenye, deputy mission director, Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland.
Addressing the students and teachers on the occasion, Kenye reminded them that GHSS Kigwema is fortunate to be one of the 17 Lighthouse School complexes in the state and urged the school to take bold, innovative initiatives in transforming the quality of education.
He challenged the students to be good stewards of God by taking good care of their surroundings and protecting them. Kenye also lamented the rampant dumping of waste materials in public places, roads, and parks, and urged the students to be ambassadors of change. He stated that big changes in the world always start in a small way with a few committed people.

Furthermore, Kenye reminded the students that if they do not litter their surroundings, no one will be required to clean them.
Rose Chishi, principal of the school, administered a pledge to students and teachers for the adoption of a litter-free campus in the school.
A total of 198 students and teachers attended the programme.
