A five-day natural farming training began at KVK Tuensang to promote sustainable agricultural practices among farmers.

DIMAPUR — A five-day training programme on natural farming commenced at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang, on Monday. The programme aims to promote sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices among local farmers.
According to an update, the training, which will continue till November 14, has 44 trainees from the Tuensang, Shamator, and Noklak districts participating.
The inaugural session was attended by Dr. Pijush Kanti Biswas, senior scientist and head of KVK Tuensang, who delivered the welcome address and highlighted the importance of natural farming in preserving soil health and reducing dependence on chemical inputs.
Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Thongpi Rutsa, attended as the guest of honour. She emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting natural farming initiatives and empowering farmers with scientific knowledge and practical skills. She urged the participants to adopt natural farming methods to enhance productivity while maintaining ecological balance.

The event also witnessed the presence of DAO Noklak, Neiku Tsido, and DDA-cum-DAO Tuensang, R Akila Rothrong, as special guests. They shared their insights on the scope and benefits of natural farming in the region.
A highlight of the programme was the launch of a book titled ‘Training Manual on Natural Farming’, authored by experts from KVK Tuensang, to serve as a resource guide for farmers. Additionally, training t-shirts were unveiled.
Throughout the training, participants will engage in practical demonstrations, interactive sessions, and field visits to gain hands-on experience in natural farming techniques.
