DIMAPUR — The Ayush Health and Wellness Centre of Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung organised a health talk at the college auditorium on Tuesday.
The programme featured in-charge Dr. Aienla M Imchen, who introduced her team and delivered sessions on the observance of World Rabies Week 2025 and on understanding mental health, according to a press release.
In the first session, Dr. Aienla highlighted the theme of World Rabies Week 2025, “Act now: you, me, community”. She defined rabies and explained that dogs are responsible for nearly 90 per cent of cases.
She elaborated on the modes of transmission, particularly through saliva, and described how the virus travels to the brain. Symptoms included confusion, agitation, difficulty in swallowing, and hydrophobia. She emphasised that rabies is one of the most painful diseases and also discussed how animals show symptoms.
Various types of vaccinations available for prevention were mentioned, along with the categories of bites and the steps to be taken immediately after a bite.

The second talk focused on understanding mental health. Dr. Aienla began with the definition of mental health and stressed that good mental health enables individuals to think better and contribute positively to society.
She noted that being able to deal with one’s emotions helps in understanding the emotions of others. She explained that the mind is filled largely with feelings, even more than reasoning, making it essential to know the difference between feelings and emotions.

She encouraged the audience to “know your mind”, which would help in making good decisions, identifying triggers, and understanding personal traumas. She highlighted three important steps for maintaining mental health: identifying the problem, acknowledging or accepting it, and then taking steps towards overcoming the illness.
RRC conducts HIV awareness campaign
Separately, the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of Fazl Ali College conducted a series of awareness activities on HIV & AIDS under the Intensified IEC Campaign 2025.
The campaign featured play and flash mob performances at multiple venues across Mokokchung, including the Medical Fellowship CEM, MTBA, Straightway Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung Compound Government High School, Mokokchung Village, Mokokchung Municipal Complex, and Fazl Ali College.
The performances, held on September 14, 17 and 23, reached diverse audiences and aimed to spread knowledge on HIV prevention while promoting the importance of testing and treatment.
Students, teachers, and local residents participated in the campaign, which used creative methods like drama and flash mobs to engage and inform attendees.
