Enforcement squad in Chozuba penalises 20 shops for violating COTPA provisions near schools.

DIMAPUR — The National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Phek, along with a block enforcement squad, carried out an enforcement drive near educational institutions in Chozuba town on September 8, penalising 20 shops.
According to a DIPR report, the enforcement squad comprised the district administration led by Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Chozuba Dr. Cthitu Nienu, dobashis, police personnel, and representatives from CTC, CTWWS, CTCSU, and CTYS.
During the drive, 20 shops found violating regulations were penalised under Section 6(b) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003, which prohibits the sale of tobacco products to or by minors and within 100 yards of educational institutions.
