Colleges and schools across Nagaland marked the week with talent hunts, freshers’ socials, foundation day events, health and awareness drives, etc.

DIMAPUR — Colleges and educational institutions across Nagaland organised various events and programmes, including talent hunts, freshers’ socials, foundation day commemorations, awareness drives and cultural festivals.
Model Christian College: The 5th Inter-Collegiate Talent Hunt, Phoenix, was held at Model Christian College (MCC), Kohima, on Saturday on the theme “Eclectic effervescent effulgent”.
According to a press release issued by MCC, the contest saw participation from 11 colleges.
Senjanbeni Ngullie of MCC won first prize (INR 15,000); The Aura Band from Kohima Science College took second (INR 10,000); and Majestic Group from St. Joseph College, Jakhama, secured third (INR 5,000). Consolation prizes were awarded to participants from five colleges.
Assam Rifles Training Centre and School: The second biannual meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Dimapur, was held at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Shokhuvi, on August 28 under the chairmanship of Brig. CS Pathania, VSM.

According to a press release issued by the institute, 23 member offices participated. Brig Pathania emphasised the progressive use of Hindi in central government offices and awarded trophies to those who excelled in implementation.
JN Aier College: JN Aier College organised its freshers’ social on August 28 at Dast Complex, 4th Mile, Diphupar.
On the occasion, guest motivator Thungchanbemo Tungoe, CEO of Dimapur Municipal Council, urged students to set meaningful goals and contribute positively to society.
Kohima Law College: Kohima Law College also held its fresher’s day on August 29 with Justice Songkhupchung Serto as the chief guest.
An update from the college stated that the chief guest greeted the newly admitted students and reminded them on the significance of the occasion as the beginning of their journey toward becoming lawyers and judges.
Drawing attention to the symbolism of the ‘Scales of Justice’, the chief guest remarked that law by itself cannot constitute justice, but it is the individuals who uphold and interpret the laws that form the true pillars of justice.
Immanuel College: Immanuel College, Dimapur, organised two major programmes. On August 29, it conducted an anti-ragging awareness session under the theme “YaARI – youth against ragging”, addressed by DCP (Crime) Khekali Y Sema, who cautioned against cyber ragging and explained legal consequences under the Juvenile Justice Act and IT Act.
On August 30, the college hosted a health campaign in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club, Primary Urban Health Centre, Duncan, and DISHA, Dimapur.
Dr. Limanaro, dental officer, and Titepeni Merry, counsellor, spoke on holistic health, tobacco use, and HIV awareness.

Free medical check-ups and medicines were provided to 88 students and teachers. The Immanuel College Alumni Association separately held “Alumni Day 2.0” on the theme “We care”.
Saint John’s High School: Saint John’s High School, Diphupar B, Chümoukedima, hosted John’s Fiesta 2025 on August 29 and 30, inaugurated by Mintu M John, aerospace engineer at Airbus, UK.
The two-day event featured cultural shows, debates, dances, speeches and songs. Shreyas Manohar, a design engineer in renewable energy, UK, also attended and encouraged students to pursue their passions.
Patkai Christian College: Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) commemorated its 51st foundation day on August 28 at Bunrock Chapel Auditorium, Chümoukedima.
According to a press release, Principal Dr. Thepfuvivlie Pierü, on the occasion, recalled the contributions of founders Rev. Dr. Tuisem A Shishak and the late Margaret Shishak and the two donor villages, Chümoukedima and Seithekema, which had gifted 1,000 acres of land.
Speaker Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, general secretary of NBCC, urged the gathering to emulate the pioneers’ legacy. The programme included customary presentations to donor villages, alumni testimonies and musical performances.
District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Mon: At DIET Mon, Principal Temsuwabang welcomed new trainees, calling their academic journey a transformative period.
He encouraged them to engage in academics, sports and cultural activities, remain humble while aspiring high, and create lasting friendships and memories.
