KOHIMA — Niuland, Dimapur, Phek, and Tuensang emerged victorious on the third day of the ongoing Dr. T Ao Trophy at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, with a mix of dominant performances and tightly contested battles.
Niuland delivered the most crushing win of the day, thrashing Shamator 9-0 in the opening fixture (sixth match).
Apeto of Niuland set a new benchmark by scoring within 17 seconds into the match, setting the record for the fastest goal scorer in the tournament so far. He went on to score three more goals in the match.

Dimapur secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Noklak in match seven of the tournament. The deciding goal came from the boot of Mangkholen in the 31st minute of the game.
Despite Noklak’s spirited attempts to equalise after the break, Dimapur’s defence held firm, repelling a series of late attacks to preserve a precious clean sheet and claim all three points.
Phek overcame Kiphire by 2-1 in an action-packed match eight that featured three goals and five cards – four yellow and a red to Phek.
Kiphire struck first in the 22nd minute when Longtibi scored a goal. Phek responded almost immediately, leveling through Kunuzo just four minutes later with a composed finish inside the box. After halftime, despite mounting pressure with one team member less on the field, Phek managed to win the game after Eneibe scored the decisive goal in the 57th minute.
Tuensang maintained their impressive form with a convincing 3-0 win over Zunheboto in match nine, fueled by Ayenmongba's outstanding hat-trick. He scored the goal in the 36th, 46th and 69th minutes, respectively.
He remains on top of the tournament's scoring charts alongside Niuland's Apeto's four goals.
