DIMAPUR — A District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) meeting on the registration of births and deaths was held at the Office Chamber of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Mon, on Monday.
According to a DIPR report, District Economics and Statistics Officer Mon Yhunchilo Khing briefed the members on the overview of the registration of births and deaths and highlighted the importance of the Civil Registration System (CRS).
During the meeting, members discussed several agenda items, including the safekeeping of birth and death records and certificates, the importance of online registration, periodic training programmes for birth and death registrars, matters relating to the appointment of registrars, the latest records of births and deaths, the Medical Certification of Cause of Death (MCCD), and delayed registration of births and deaths.
The members also deliberated on measures for the effective implementation of the registration of births and deaths at the village level and stressed the need to sensitise villagers about its importance through the church and civil organisations.
