DIMAPUR — The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) conducted a three-day training programme on "Scientific management of pond and fishery-based integrated farming system in NE" from October 9 to the 11th at Medziphema.
According to a The training was aimed at enhancing the skills of ATMA functionaries in scientific fishery management, integrated farming, and value addition in fish.
In his inaugural address, Bodevi Shuya, director of SAMETI and principal of IETC, encouraged participants to engage in the training and reflect on self-sustainability and efficiency by assisting farmers in taking up entrepreneurial ventures.

The training programme covered topics on scientific management and opportunities in fisheries, the concept and importance of aquapreneurship, aqua rearing settings and management, and the importance and practices of integrated fish farming. It also included a session on value addition in fish and the sharing of a success story on fish-based entrepreneurship.
A field visit to Imchen Aquatics was organised, where participants observed practical demonstrations on Australian red claw farming, tilapia farming, and the recirculating aquaculture system.
The resource persons for the training included Imtisunep, district fishery officer, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Dimapur; Yanrangjang Imchen, entrepreneur and proprietor of Imchen Aquatics; C Dory Yanthan, district fishery officer and project director (ATMA), Peren; and Shelly, a woman entrepreneur.
