Minority Students’ Union of Dimapur Government College hosts 6th freshers meet marked by cultural events.

DIMAPUR — The Minority Students’ Union of Dimapur Government College (MSU-DGC) organised its 6th Freshers Meet at the college auditorium on March 14, welcoming the new batch of students in a vibrant celebration of unity, friendship and youthful spirit.
According to a press release issued by MSU-DGC, the highlight of the programme was an address by Bishnu Bhattacharjee, chairman of the Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland and president of the Minority Wing of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), who attended as the guest speaker.
In his address, Bhattacharjee encouraged students to remain focused on their studies and strive towards achieving their goals.
He emphasised the importance of skill development, sports and music in shaping well-rounded individuals, and informed the students about upcoming opportunities and government initiatives beneficial for youth.
He also appreciated Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Imna Along, for their continuous efforts towards the development of students in the state.

Bhattacharjee acknowledged their initiatives in promoting education across various sectors, including sports, skill development and music, which he said are creating broader opportunities for young people.
Further stressing the importance of unity, he urged students to respect diversity and embrace one another without discrimination or differences, and work together to build a society based on inclusiveness and peaceful coexistence.
The programme began with a welcome address by Sumith Sengyungsa, president of MSU-DGC, who greeted the guests and newly admitted students and highlighted the importance of unity, mutual respect and cooperation among students from diverse communities.
Dayashankar Pandey of Hatokhajan High School, Assam, attended the event as the special guest, while Ajay Sethi, managing director of NITI Academy, and Pratik Dutta, administrator of St. Mary Higher Secondary School, were the guests of honour. Mahesh Agarwal, member of the Dimapur Municipal Council, also attended the programme as a guest.
Presidents of the Marwari Samaj, Meetei Samaj and Odia Samaj were also present as invited guests and expressed their support and encouragement to the student community.
During the programme, Biju Bhagat, the first president of MSU-DGC, shared his experiences and motivated students to actively engage in academic and cultural activities.
Ajit Sukla Baidya, representing the freshers, also expressed gratitude to the seniors and the union for organising a memorable welcome for the new students.
The event also featured cultural performances and talent segments showcasing the enthusiasm and creativity of the students.
The results of the Freshers Meet were announced as follows: Miss Talent – Sushma Pashi; Mr Perfect – Anurag Mondal; Miss Freshers – Sanjita Sinha; and Mr Freshers – Siddhant Bor Gohain.
