The Kohima district media cell held a coordination meeting to discuss public awareness for Special Intensive Revision.

DIMAPUR — A coordination meeting of the media cell for the Kohima district, in connection with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll 2026, was held at the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) of Kohima on Wednesday.
Chairing the meeting, Chairman of the media cell and DC Kohima, B Henok Buchem, briefed the members on the ongoing SIR exercise and apprised them of the roles and responsibilities of the officials involved in the revision process.
The members of the media cell discussed the SIR exercise for effective public awareness and information dissemination. The functions discussed included the preparation and dissemination of press releases, media coordination and monitoring, publicity and awareness initiatives, and the effective management of official social media platforms.
The meeting also deliberated on measures to counter fake news, misinformation, and misleading information related to the SIR process. Members highlighted the need for timely dissemination of verified and authentic information to ensure that the public remains well-informed about the objectives, procedures, and timelines of the electoral revision.
The members further discussed strengthening awareness and publicity of the SIR exercise through various communication platforms, including greater outreach to the public through the District Icon and other appropriate media channels.
