DIMAPUR — The two-day interior tour of Phek district by Congress leaders for the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, an internal Indian National Congress organisational restructuring campaign, has concluded.
While addressing the gatherings at Pfutsero and Phek, All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer Dr. Biswaranjan Mohanty noted that despite facing difficulties, many unwavering and dedicated party workers remained steadfast.
He stressed that the Indian National Congress (INC) was foundational in building the nation, having championed unity, peace, respect, and the safeguarding of all religious, caste, and tribal interests to guarantee equality and justice.
He stated that the Indian National Congress is not merely a political party but an ideology committed to promoting safety, unity, and constitutional rights. Furthermore, he attacked the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Modi government, alleging violence against vulnerable sections, religious intolerance, and attacks on democracy, which he said are creating a climate of fear and weakening the nation's social and cultural fabric.

He said that under the leadership of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, this campaign was initiated to empower grassroots-level workers to choose party leaders, building the Congress organisational setups right from the ground up in a transparent, accountable and democratic process. He said he was here to listen and to assess the opinions of the party workers and understand their minds for a better future.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) observer and former MLA Toshipokba encouraged party workers to keep faith, saying that the time for reaping will come. He acknowledged the pain of being in opposition for over 25 years but urged them not to abandon the cause, calling it a waste of their long struggle and sacrifices. He also thanked the AICC observer for tirelessly interviewing and deliberating with workers at the grassroots level.
During his maiden visit, NPCC Vice President and In Charge of Phek district, W Akhum Yim, stated that this reformation exercise aims to empower, encourage, and instil hope in party workers while reinforcing organisational structures.
He highlighted the need to groom a new generation of leaders and to work hand-in-hand with them. He thanked the president of the District Congress Committee (DCC), Phek, for the reception and expressed optimism that Phek district will yield good results for the party in future politics.
Khosapa Venuh, President of the Phek District Congress Committee, expressed his gratitude to the leaders for the concern shown towards party workers through their visit and hoped to have more such interactions in the future.
