DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) has expressed concern over reports of anti-social activities in and around Chümoukedima town and reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against illegal taxation, extortion, and all forms of unauthorised monetary demands within its jurisdiction.
In a statement, the CTYO said such unlawful activities place an undue burden on citizens, businesses, transporters, and visitors, while undermining the rule of law and hampering the town’s growth and development.
It urged the public to remain vigilant and report incidents of extortion or illegal tax collection through the anti-extortion helpline (+91 87878 93133) or directly to the organisation.
The organisation also reaffirmed the citizens’ resolution adopted on February 13, 2014, declaring that multiple taxation would not be tolerated in any form. The CTYO said it would continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies and stakeholders to safeguard public interests and maintain a safe environment.

Expressing concern over rising instances of anti-social activities, it warned against vandalism, public nuisance, substance abuse in public places, disorderly conduct, reckless behaviour, and other acts that threaten public peace and communal harmony.
The organisation further highlighted the growing problem of loud and modified exhaust systems on vehicles, saying they cause inconvenience to residents, particularly students, children, the elderly, and patients.
It announced that volunteers would be deployed across wards to identify such vehicles and coordinate with authorities for necessary action.
It also appealed to motorists to follow traffic regulations and speed limits prescribed by Dimapur Police, including the maximum speed limit of 50 kmph along the NH-29 stretch passing through Chümoukedima town.
With the Ward-11 by-election approaching, the CTYO reiterated its commitment to ensuring a free, fair and peaceful electoral process. Maintaining its neutral and non-partisan position, the organisation urged candidates, supporters and voters to uphold clean election practices and avoid any activities that could disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election.
