Chingthur Foundation successfully completed its first three-month internship programme in Karagaon.
DIMAPUR — Chingthur Foundation held its first internship completion programme at its Agroforestry Training Centre in Karagaon on August 29.
The Chingthur Foundation works to empower individuals and communities through sustainable living, poverty alleviation, capacity building, organic farming and environmental stewardship.
According to a press release, the three-month internship was undertaken by Kevizhapu Terhuja and Keneisebei Meyase of North East Christian University (NECU). The interns received hands-on exposure to sustainable farming practices and locally adaptable, appropriate technologies.
The training was conducted under the guidance of Programme Manager of the Chingthur Foundation, Lungaithui Malangmei, who has undergone training at the Asian Rural Institute (ARI) in Japan and ECHO Asia in Thailand.
Executive Director of Chingthur Foundation Dingshungngamang Kamei welcomed the gathering and thanked NECU for choosing the foundation as a field-learning partner. He expressed hope for continued collaboration in equipping young learners and contributing to rural communities.

Malangmei presented a brief report on the internship, while the interns shared reflections on their learning experiences.
Chairman of the Chingthur Foundation, Pesha Khiamniungan, encouraged the interns to remain humble, continue learning, and put their acquired knowledge and skills to meaningful use.
Registrar of NECU Vizeto Kin commended the interns for their perseverance and appreciated the foundation for providing practical exposure and connecting them with wider learning networks such as ECHO and ARI. He also pointed out the importance of environmentally responsible and land-conscious practices.
The interns were presented with completion certificates during the programme.
The foundation stated that the successful completion of its first internship programme is a step towards developing more field-based learning opportunities for young people committed to sustainable livelihoods, environmental stewardship, and community development.
