Nagaland University and other colleges and schools across Nagaland organise freshers' days, academic exhibitions, and induction programmes.
DIMAPUR/KOHIMA — Multiple educational institutions across Nagaland held induction, foundation day, academic, and freshers' programmes recently.
Nagaland University: The School of Agricultural Sciences at Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, launched Deeksharambh 2026, a 10-day student induction programme for B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture students, on August 27.
According to an update, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dipak Sinha highlighted the role of departmental familiarisation, while Dean Pauline Alila spoke on the mentor-mentee system. Dr. Anthony Richa, Deputy Registrar, and academic officials Dr. Jurisandhya Bordoloi and Dr. Moanungsang orientated the students.
ICAR Nodal Officer KK Jha urged students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.
Kohima Science College: The Department of Chemistry at Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma, concluded a three-day lecture workshop on "Recent Advances in Chemical Sciences" on August 29. Sponsored by the Science Academies, the event featured scientific lectures by scientists from Indian Institute of Science, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Patkai Christian College: Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), Chümoukedima, organised Science Exhibition 2026 on August 29 on the theme “Science beyond limits”. Principal Dr. Thepfuvilie Pierü and special guest Obed Swu, Divisional Forest Officer of Zunheboto, spoke on scientific curiosity. PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, won first prize.
Patkai Christian College also celebrated its 52nd foundation day on August 28. Board of Trustees Chairman Zhabu Terhuja urged the community to demonstrate a distinct Christian character, reflecting the college motto, "Light and Truth". Principal Dr. Thepfuvilie Pieri delivered the welcome address.
NEISSR: North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research, Chümoukedima, organised its 12th fresher's day on August 12. Commanding Officer of the 24 Nagaland Battalion NCC, Lt. Col. Prachetan Gahatraj, attended as the chief guest and highlighted discipline, confidence, and goal-setting. Principal Dr. Fr. CP Anto welcomed the new social work students.
Immanuel College: Immanuel College, Dimapur, celebrated its 32nd freshers’ social on August 29. Extra Assistant Commissioner of Longleng, Imkongnukla Ao, attended as the special guest, advising students to recognise their potential and learn from failure. Thechano Humtsoe and Ghokivi Kinimi were crowned Miss and Mr. Freshers.
MGM College: MGM College Alumni Association organised a Talent Hunt Programme in Dimapur on August 29. Principal Dr. RK Behera encouraged the students, with Manzen P Konyak securing first place and the Education department winning the best department performance.
Modern College: Modern College, Piphema, in collaboration with Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Assam, organised an art and craft competition on August 28. Vice-Chancellor G Singaiah and Modern College Principal Dr. Vitso Yahno signed an MoU.
City Law College: City Law College, Dimapur, organised its freshers-cum-farewell day on August 29. Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation President Zasivikho Zakiesato attended as the special guest.
Salesian College of Higher Education: The National Service Scheme unit and Red Ribbon Club of Salesian College of Higher Education conducted an HIV and STI awareness programme. Organised in collaboration with the Western Sema Community Development Project, the sessions focused on preventive measures and distributing testing kits.
Dimapur Government College: The Chemistry department of Dimapur Government College, in collaboration with the Food Safety Administration, held a food adulteration workshop on August 29. Principal Dr. T Tiakaba Jamir spoke on food safety, while food technicians demonstrated simple detection methods.
BC Olive School: BC Olive School, Kiphire, conducted an educational field trip for its students to the 30 Assam Rifles Camp on August 28. The trip included drill demonstrations, sports, and Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
Zeme Baptist Church Council: Zeme Baptist Church Council, in collaboration with Kendeu Coaching Centre, organised Science Exhibition 2026 at Baptist High School, Jalukie, on August 29. Peren Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru spoke on sustainable development, urging students to use science and innovation to address environmental and developmental challenges.
